WTF is WCEF2019?
Here it is raw and real…..the WCEF2019 is the World Circular Economy Forum and you absolutely NEED to follow all things #WCEF2019, whether you’re a vegan off-the-grid living soul, or a meat-eating mass consuming carnivore…..or anything in between.
The 2019 event was held in Helsinki, Finland and it’s my first time here and I’m in LOVE!
The WCEF2019 has a strong emphasis on the next era of the circular economy and scaling up the transition. This involves growing investments into circular economy businesses, spreading and adopting new technologies and making significant regulatory changes that enable the circular economy to flourish.

Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end!
The words #sustainability can trigger us all in a different way.
This event isn’t about ranting or protesting on the frontline for global warming. Nor is it about us all taking off our bras and protesting loudly and wildly.
This event has been an energetic, electrifying, emotional and exceptional!!
One of my favourite quotes was when Hans Bruyninckx, Executive Director at the European Environment Agency (EEA) said….
“If you think you’re leading but no one is following, you’re just taking a walk.”
Spelling out the need to rethink capitalism & not pin hopes on technology to save the day.
This incredibly professional and profoundly action oriented global event has been about #collaboration and #action NOW for our future. The leaders and decision makers here are the doers and the game changers, you can literally feel the wheels in motion here on the ground.
Impact has also a strong theme, with leaders talking about new ways to invest in organisations paving the way for all things #circulareconomy
Take for instance London’s approach, utilising venture funding to support SME transition’s to circular and invest in new business models #WCEF2019 #notkidding
Nothing perhaps more impactful than #Ikea announcing the following:
@IKEA has the goal to be a fully #circular business by 2030 says CEO Torbjörn Lööf, because it is the only option to ensure a viable future for the company!
What an incredible move…..anyone else want to move to Sweden?
